It's much easier now that I am grown and out of the house. I used to be more uncomfortable about coming out and talking about it. I should have asked her in this interview if she was ever disappointed when I "came out" --- plus when you are transgender you often come out twice, first as gay or bi then as trans... both moments equally uncomfortable... Anyway, there is this sense that you are disappointing your parents when you come out as trans. I'm sure at one stage she may have been a little disappointed, but start recording my mom on any device and she sounds like the most accepting woman in the world! It's never quite like that in real life, and I know for many of you out there it's more difficult. But from this video take the message of hope, share it with your parents so they know they are not alone and do not need to be afraid, listen to the soothing strong accented lady and hear that love and enjoy some for yourself.
