Depression and anxiety are not lifelong. Medications can be used in the short-term to get an individual to a stable place where personal obstacles can start to be overcome. Medications do not solve any problem on their own, and a chemical imbalance is not the root of any issue. Medications that are prescribed to fix a perceived chemical imbalance will not work. They can cause dependency and major physical and mental health issues, and can exacerbate the problem.
