Some transgender people are discouraged from going on hormones because they are unaware of what will happen with their mental health diagnosis. I have worked with people with a variety of mental health diagnoses including depression, (major depression and dysthmia), anxiety (generalized anxiety and panic), mood related diagnoses, (bipolar I and bipolar II), psychosis (schizoaffective),autism spectrum, (Asperger's and autism), and ADHD. This video provides information on the most common outcome regarding HRT's influence on your mental health diagnosis, based upon my experience, and ideas on what to do if you have some concern.
